hellooooooo!!! i’m back! sorry, i’ve been very busy lately hibernating, eating, sleeping, doing nothing basically. the couch potato life is now finally getting into me…ahhhhhhh. bliss.
some signs of life updates from me. hehe! last month, my husband paid me a visit and we went on a weekend road trip to akaroa which is 80km and 1-hour drive away from christchurch. since i can’t afford to take leaves at work, we decided to go on a weekend and limit our options near the city. i guess akaroa is the best choice we had. luckily, the sky is very clear and the sun is out that day, what a perfect timing we had.
we had a quick stop over at little river. there’s a souvenir shop, café for quick coffee break as well as an art gallery for enthusiasts.
then, we reached our destination. akaroa, a small village surrounded by bays and harbour, was used to be an english and french settlement during the 18th century. the french influence is still seen in the area as reflected by the names of the streets, buildings and a french flag standing tall in the middle of the village.
we had fish and chips for lunch at the newly opened akaroa fish and chip shop.
we toured the village the whole day but decided to stay for overnight since husband is not comfortable driving at night. we stayed at a cute backpackers hostel which is very chic from the outside. i guess my ‘bff’ as in becky-fab-fartner, was very thrilled staying at this place. haha!
we had dinner and breakfast at one of the cozy garden restaurants near the hostel. a live band is playing at night to entertain the patrons.
it’s palm sunday so we attend mass together before leaving on sunday morning. we still had some energy left to go on biking during the afternoon at mcleans island track. unfortunately, we arrived late at 5pm which is 1 hour before the closing time. nevertheless, we still enjoyed the remaining hour to go around the biking trail.
few days more to go and bff is arriving soon. finally!
